Hampshire Business Computers

Hampshire Business Computers (HBC) has been designing and supplying IT systems and support services to businesses in the south of England for over 20 years. During that time the company has maintained a strong growth record in a very competitive market and today works with both SMEs and household names including Garmin, Martins of Basingstoke and Longleat.

For most of this period the company’s accountants have been Rothmans, which has provided directors Kieron Doyle and Derrick Ross with accountancy services and advice.

Like all good business associations, the Rothmans/HBC relationship has been built on trust, commitment and understanding. “Rothmans came on board not long after we had established the company,” explains Managing Director Kieron Doyle. “At first it was just to handle auditing and tax submissions, but as they got to know us they became an essential part of our management team. I oversee the financial side of the business and I know what I want from an accounting firm. Rothmans has always exceeded expectations.”

Throughout the relationship the Rothmans team has been headed by Simon Elliott, Senior Partner based in the firm’s Southampton office. “Our work with HBC typifies how we like to operate with our clients,” comments Simon. “It’s important to keep close to a business as it gets established. When we understand its long-term aims and objectives we can offer suggestions and solutions to issues as they arise, which enables us to minimise costs and take full advantage of potentially beneficial opportunities.”

As well as working with the HBC directors on business decisions, such as acquisitions and strategic planning, Rothmans also handles the personal tax planning of the directors to maximise tax efficiencies.

“I know that I’m always going to get solid advice and well thought out decisions from the Rothmans team,” adds Kieron Doyle. “They have a wealth of specialists I can drill into seamlessly and their fees are very competitive compared with the national firms.

“To sum up I’d say it’s like getting the service and support you’d expect from a large accountancy firm but with a local office and personal relationships.”
